๐ PROACTIVE PATROLS & VEHICLE SEIZURES ๐ Hempstead & Wigmore |
||
|
On Monday 17th August, officers carried out high-visibility patrols around Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre ๐๏ธ and Walderslade as part of ongoing work to tackle crime, antisocial behaviour and improve safety within our communities.
๐ Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre Whilst on patrol, officers spotted a motorcycle being ridden without a registration plate. When officers attempted to stop the rider, the motorcycle was abandoned and the male made off from the area. โ The motorcycle has been seized and enquiries are ongoing.
๐ Walderslade Officers also seized: ๐ด An electric e-scooter being used illegally on a public road. ๐ฒ A Revvi electric bike following police intervention.
โ๏ธ Know the Law Many people are unaware that privately owned e-scooters are classed as motor vehicles and cannot be used on roads, pavements, cycle lanes or other public places. Riders may commit offences including: โ Driving without insurance ๐ Police have the power to seize vehicles being used unlawfully. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ We would also encourage parents and guardians to check whether electric bikes and scooters are legal for use before purchasing them, as some can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
๐ค We will continue to carry out both high-visibility and targeted patrols across Hempstead and Wigmore , taking positive action where offences are identified and responding to concerns raised by residents.
Thank you to everyone who continues to engage with us and report issues in their neighbourhood. Your information helps us target patrols and keep our communities safe. ๐
